The community itself is located just off Oil Well Road, east of Naples and neighboring Bonita Springs. Founded in 2005, Ave Maria still has that new paint feel to it. The university was opened in 2007 and development continues.
The community has a town center with shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and leisure amenities. There are also schools to go with the university, a health center and other commercial developments in the pipeline.
Leisure activities include soccer,baseball, basketball, tennis, softball, bocce ball, horseshoe pits, a dog park and numerous picnic pavilions. The community center has an indoor basketball court, fitness room and an aerobics studio that offers classes such as spinning and cardio workouts.
The area of Ave Maria spans around 5,000 acres of land. While much is given to residential and commercial development, 45 percent has been reserved for parks and recreational areas. So while this is a town, there will still be plenty of green space to enjoy around it.
The plan is to eventually have 11,000 homes, in a number of neighborhoods. The center will obviously be the university, but there will be three town centers, all offering a range of facilities. There is also an onsite EMS and fire brigade, as well as medical facilities and a dentist.
The range of properties is wide, everything from condominiums to villas, small family homes to estate homes. There is something for everyone in Ave Maria.
Prices start at $230,000 for a 2 bedroom condominium, up to around $500,000 for a 5 bedroom family home.
