Cash for Caulking Proposal

Posted: January 12, 2010

Going green and conserving the planet's energy has become an increasingly popular trend over the past several years. In light of this trend, President Obama has begun proposing a program that would allow a 50% rebate on energy-efficient appliances, such as air conditioners, washers, dryers, and heating systems. Homeowners installing these appliances would also qualify by installing energy-efficient insulation or windows.

The proposal "Cash for Caulking" is still in its early stages, but homeowners making the upfront investment to make their home more "green" can recoup a sizable amount of their expenses. While not definite, there will likely not be income restrictions, and there is a possibility that retailers and contractors may be asked to pay a small amount of the cost of the appliances up front (to offset the high costs to the buyer).
