Investors Leaking Back Into the Real Estate Market

Posted: December 07, 2009

In a recent study from Move.com, statistics show that the percentage of current homebuyers purchasing investment properties has increased approximately 6.5% since March of this year. Out of these investment purchases, 25.3% are being geared towards foreclosures.

Homeowners typically use investment properties in a variety of ways, from renting it out to tenants, to remodeling and selling for a profit. An overwhelming 17.4% of homeowners buying foreclosed homes as investments, however, are planning on using the property as a place for family members, until it can be resold at a more reasonable (and profitable) price.

The reasons for purchasing an investment property can be as varied as the ways to utilize them. Most buyers that participated within the survey were motivated by the fall of the market. With prices coming down so low, many buyers who know the market are quick to snap up properties, once pricing has come down as low as possible. Other reasons include a good selection of homes within a buyer's area, and a fear of rising interest rates.

As always, please feel free to call me at 239-357-9558 with any of your Real Estate questions or needs. Rgds, Jay
