In this issue of the Encompass Realty Group Newsletter, we wanted to discuss some research being conducted on Florida's victims of foreclosures. At this stage of the real estate game, it's difficult to find someone that has not been affected by foreclosure, or at least know someone who has. FAR, or the Florida Association of Realtors, is currently conducting a survey called "The Face of Foreclosure" to find out the circumstances surrounding homeowners' foreclosures in Florida, and to gather factual information to use in foreclosure assistance and prevention programs.
In an article recently released by FAR, the survey will also be used to create a more in-depth understanding of the foreclosure trends taking place in Florida. Foreclosure data from a multitude of sources over the previous three years will be compiled to give a more accurate and up-to-date reflection on the foreclosure rate in real estate.
While many victims of foreclosure may feel that their cases were viewed as just a number in the system, FAR feels that these people have a voice that needs to be heard. As spoken by John Sebree, FAR's Vice President of Public Relations, "All of this information will provide the building blocks for strong advocacy, and ultimately, good public policy as it relates to the housing market in all of its facets. Along with further research, this data will help us find solutions as we seek to better understand foreclosures in Florida."
